A Little History ...

The building complex of Santa Maria della Pace is placed in Botinaccio, a place where the Frescobaldi family, lords of Castiglioni, had several properties inherited from the Guidi counts.

Inside the church

After a miraculous apparition of Virgin Mary an oratory was built and managed by Franciscan friars.

This place of devotion has been enlarged, in the course of the centuries, to meet the need of the more and more numerous pilgrims going there.

The monastery has been recently and carefully restored to bring it back to its ancient beauty but also to create a graceful and comfortable place where visitors can spend their days.

A nice view of the Convent

The charming panorama induces to the admiration and to the contemplation ofthe natural beauties: the dawn, the sunset, the woods, the olive-trees and the typical vineyard of the Chianti. Moreover the nearby cities of art as Florence, Siena, Pisa, the medieval villages as San Gimignano and the estruscan towns as Volterra are within easy reached.
